The creator of ‘ORENDA’ grew up witnessing injustice, corruption and inequality in Pakistan, that was dismissed by the phrase ‘Yeh Pakistan Hai’. He was frustrated that this phrase served as an explanation for all the shortcomings and pitfalls of the country. As a result, he dropped out of college and returned to Pakistan to set up a charity school called ‘Akhuwat-e-Awam’ in Islamabad. This school took on the national curriculum but made improvements to it by converting it into an interactive and engaging mobile app called ‘Taleemabad’. Taleemabad delivers a world class education to children, regardless of their location. The application now has an outreach of 3500 children. Further, as mobiles are spreading, this application offers a pathway to potentially ensure the education of thousands and decrease drop out rates.
